We’ve offered discounts from time to time, but the pandemic has created special needs for us all. The prices of both ClanDonnell: A Storied History of Ireland and Buy The Horse A Guinness (& Other Wee Tales of Ireland) have been reduced for the duration of the pandemic. We’re stuck indoors and, presumably, so are you. These are troubled times but are ideal times for a good read!

We’ll sign your book before shipping it to you. Let us know if you wish your book to have a personal inscription. We’d be happy to oblige.

Shipping Policy – Free Within the U.S.A.

Shipping is FREE within the U.S.A., by U.S. Postal Service media mail. We will continue this throughout the pandemic.

We use U.S. Postal Service media mail for all shipping within the United States. We’ll ship within five business days of the order (and usually much, much sooner). Media mail is quite efficient and cost effective for U.S shipping. But we’ll ship almost any way you wish, as long as you pay the cost.

We are not likely to ship the book to North Korea or any other intergalactic location. We are still working on the most cost effective ways to ship a large book to the rest of the planet. Contact us if you wish a quote.

Shipping and handling charges are quoted on a per item basis. The amount and the options should show up on PayPal as you check out.

Refund Policy

We offer returns within 30 days of receipt of shipment. The book must still be in new condition. You pay the cost to return the book to us.

If however the book is somehow defective (missing pages, poor binding, etc), then you may return the book in its ‘as is’ condition. You will be refunded the cost of the book or issued a replacement in new condition, and we will pay the shipping costs.

Please contact us if you have any issues with our books.

You should use a trackable method to return a book to us. Otherwise we may not guarantee a refund.

Privacy Policy

Privacy is a difficult thing to protect in the current millennium. It was much easier in the times written about in ClanDonnell.

We don’t gather much information about anyone at this web site. Whatever we do gather is strictly for our use and is not shared with anyone else – ever! We don’t know if there is much of a market for any lists or data which we might retain, but we will never sell such information anyway.

Our servers might track IP addresses, referring pages and other information for some reason. We haven’t a clue. If our servers provide us with statistics, we might be able to improve this site. More than likely, the statistics won’t mean much to us. In any event, the information will not be used for any other purpose.

We will keep track of your orders in order to help with future customer service. Since our orders are handled through PayPal, we don’t see your credit, debit or other card information – and we wouldn’t misuse the information even if we did.

Digital Copies

Digital copies are available to download (on pdf, Adobe or compatible). If you’d rather have a book on CD or USB memory stick, we can do that as well.

ClanDonnell is not perfect.
Although it is close.

I lost count of the number of times I proof read ClanDonnell. It was also proof read by a content editor, copy editor, and layout editor, and again by me after each round of editing. I was positive, after all of this, that the book was error free.

I was wrong. I did indeed find a few errors since publication. These will be corrected for the second printing and before ClanDonnell comes out on e-book. In the meantime, here are the corrections (and hopefully I will not have to add to the list very often).

Page 218: In the first box of the chart, ‘Alexander Mor’ should be ‘Angus Mor’.

Page 554: The year ‘1843’ in the caption of the second illustration is probably incorrect, since it is a Hunger-era illustration (1846-1850). I need to check my notes to find the correct year.

Page 902: ‘victorianweb.org’ should be ‘victorianwebs.org’.

Page 903: ‘workhouse.org’ should be ‘workhouses.org’

Page 918: ‘wesleyjohnson.org’ should be ‘wesleyjohnston.org’.

Page 925: ‘Rarely does an evening goes by’ should be ‘Rarely does an evening go by’.

I cited many websites in the Sources and Acknowledgements section. Unfortunately, websites come and go. Websites which existed when I researched and wrote the book may not be around when the reader wishes to consult them. There is not much I can do about that. But if you discover a ‘dead’ website, let me know and I might (or might not) make the correction.

I did make a special acknowledgement (on page 922) to scottishmist.com, since they were gracious enough to grant me permission to use a few images. This website no longer exists.
