Hear:Say Storytelling

Traverse City, Michigan

A friend of a friend told out about the monthly story telling event at Traverse City’s Inside-Out Gallery, and we had to check it out. What we found was a delightful way to spend a Monday evening.

The event is two hours long, split up between six or so storytellers. These are personal experience stories, with a different theme each month. Some of the stories are hilarious, some tragic, and many in between.

The event is called Hear:Say Storytelling and it’s the brain-child of its founder and producer, Karen Stein. It’s held once each month, October through May. Inside-Out Gallery has a cash bar, and one can enjoy a beverage while listening to the stories.

The theme for May, 2016, was “So, a storyteller walks into a bar”.

ClanDonnell is a storyteller, and he’s walked into many a bar (most often, an Irish pub). So, it’s an ideal forum for a ClanDonnell story. And so, we told the story of ClanDonnell’s first story telling venture in Ireland – at Gus O’Connor’s, in Doolin, County Clare.

Some follow-up (in 2019). The events are typically podcast. Due to a technical glitch, this one wasn’t. (Bummer). The Inside-Out Gallery no longer exists. Hear:Say Storytelling now meets at The Workshop Brewing Company in Traverse City.
