The Irish Research Group
The Albuquerque Genealogical Society’s Irish Research Group invited us to speak on … (wait for it) … Irish genealogy.
We didn’t speak on genealogy per se, but we did speak on many historical issues which should help the genealogists put their research into perspective.
The sociey’s regular monthly session was held earlier in the day (May 13th) in Albuquerque’s main library auditorium. The society also sponsors a number of specialized research groups – including the Irish Research Group. This research group’s session was devoted to ClanDonnell.
The Albuquerque Public Library maintains a wonderful Genealogy Center on the second floor of the Main Library in downtown ABQ.
Incidentally, the society’s main program was entitled ‘DNA for Dummies’, focusing on genetic genealogy. It was subtitled How to Use DNA Results to Enhance Your Genealogical Research & To Learn Your Deep Roots”. The presentation is by John Farris. It was a fascinating program and I learned that I am indeed a dummy when it comes to DNA. But I know a wee bit more now!
