Muskegon, Michigan
We’ve tried to get into this festival for a few years, and now we are IN!!
The Michigan Irish Music Festival is the state’s premier Irish festival, and one of the nation’s best. The music was terrific – We Banjo 3, Lűnasa, Cara Dillon, The Elders, Moxie String, Tallymore, and one of our new favorites – Goitse. It’s held annually at the Heritage Landing Park along Lake Muskegon.
We were at the Blarney Stage, which was a bit of a stretch to call our sets “blarney”, but it was fine by us. I spoke an hour on “Why The Great Hunger” and an hour on “Irish Legends”. Actually, I only told one Irish legend – the story of Bricrui’s Feast from the Ulster Cycle. We had a packed tent for both sessions.
We also told a yarn at the open mike session – it’s simply difficult for us to stay away from a microphone and an audience.
