Celtic and Hispanic
I met an interesting man in Albuquerque and, in the process, learned a wee bit more about the Celts.
He is Douglas Carter – a dancer, bilingual history teacher, and Celtic historian. He ran a booth at the Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival, telling people about Hispanics with Celtic roots.
He gave me an article he wrote in 1995 for the Irish Times. It is, indeed, quite interesting. I scanned it and put it in the pdf document below. It’s entitled Celtic and Hispanic.
I particularly like the last sentence of the article – true for the Celts but true for each and every other culture as well:
Celticity is not a matter of race but of culture and culture is acquired.
