County Kerry, Ireland
ClanDonnell told a few tales at the Sneem Storytelling Festival, November 6th to 8th, 2015.
The question was this: ClanDonnell has told a few tales of Ireland to audiences throughout the United States. Would he be able to do the same in Ireland?
The event was the 4th annual Sneem Storytelling Festival in, of all places, Sneem! And the answer to the question is YES.
We also listened as much as we told – listening to a few of Ireland’s best storytellers, learning more than a wee bit in the process.
Sneem is but a wee village on the Ring of Kerry. It was our first time there. The word sneem means knot in Irish. If you ask the locals how or why the village acquired its name, you will receive as many answers as the number of people you asked. There is a good article on the festival in Discovery Ireland.
The festival brochure is at the pdf link below. We are in the brochure, but under our new alias – story teller from abroad.
Much of the festival took place in the Sneem Hotel, where we told a few tales as well.
But some of the best stories were told at the pub crawl and story swaps at the pubs of Sneem.
