I posted this flag, together with the tri-color flag of the Republic of Ireland, on Facebook some months back and asked two trivia questions.
#1: Which of these is the flag of the Republic of Ireland?
#2: The non-Irish flag is the flag of what country?
Both are tri-color flags with the same three colors – only in different order.
The flag on the left is the Irish tri-color. Green is, of course, the color most often associated with the Irish and represents Irish nationalism; orange is the color associated with the Irish Protestants (think “William of Orange”); and white is the hope of peace and unity throughout the island.
As for the flag at the top of the page? It is the flag of Cȏte d’Ivoire (The Ivory Coast).
Orange represents the savanna grasslands on Cȏte d’Ivoire flag; green the coastal forests; and white country’s rivers.
