Credits for The Cornfield

I thank the historical authors who documented America’s civil war so well and enabled me to tell the story The Cornfield which much historical accuracy. These authors include James M. McPherson, Terry L. Jones, Shelby Foote, Stephen W. Sears, Bruce Catton, and many others.

A special thanks to James P. Gannon for his history of the 6th Louisiana Volunteers, written in 20th Century, and to Charles E. Davis, Jr., and his contributors for the history of the 13th Massachusetts Volunteers, written in the 19th Century.

I relied on other secondary and primary sources to make this story as historically accurate as I could.

By far, the best source for understanding the lives of the enlisted men were their diaries and letters to home, and the recollections of veterans years later. These were especially enlightening and rich in detail. While The Cornfield is a work of fiction, many of the anecdotal stories were inspired by the true stories, recounted by the war’s participants.
