We spoke to the local Grand Traverse Genealogical Society on Thursday, July 17th at 1:00 pm. They must have liked what they heard, since they gobbled it up and bought a lot of books.
We told some Irish stories, but focused on the Irish clans, Irish naming practices, and the departure of Irish to North America. We also talked about the many sources of information available for genealogical resources, and the many difficulties and hazards involved in the search.
We were delighted to speak to the group, and we hope we were up to the task. These folks are quite good and dedicated, but perhaps we passed on a wee bit of helpful information.
The society has partnered with the Traverse Area District Library, and thousands of books, newsletters, microfiche, etc., with a wide variety of records and “how to” sources.
The session is at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Traverse City.
