Iowa Irish Fest

Irish Festival Time in Waterloo

ClanDonnell went to the Iowa Irish Fest in Waterloo! The festival is three days – August 1st, 2nd and 3rd – in downtown Waterloo. It’s set up on four different stages plus a park, all for non-stop action.

ClanDonnell was at the center stage under the cultural events tent. The seating and standing room holds about 100 people, and I had stage lighting and sound. The events committee gave me time on center stage, and a table to meet folk one-on-one and do book signings.

The whole thing sounded a bit intimidating at first. I don’t mean the center stage or the size of the crowd. I mean calling this a cultural event. This sounds more like the billing for an opera.

I decided to simply tell a few Irish stories, entertain the crowd the best I can, extract a laugh or two, and teach Festival goers a wee bit about Ireland and the Irish. I hoped that it passed as a cultural event.

Thanks also to the Cedar Falls Times for publicizing our involvement in the event.
