Shining in Estes Park

The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado

This hotel might remind you of the hotel in The Shining. It should.

Stephen King stayed here at the Stanley Hotel one night in 1974, and it was enough to inspire him to write The Shining. We attended a reception here, for the honored guests of the Rocky Mountain Irish Festival. It was during the day time in the summer time, but it was enough to thoroughly spook us.

The hotel is, indeed, haunted. Patrons have seen many paranormal activity and a few ghost sightings. We saw a few leprechauns under the subfloor, we think.

But it is a beautiful hotel, in a classic mountain setting.
