Pittsburgh Irish Festival

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

ClanDonnell made its third trip to Pittsburgh, for the Pittsburgh Irish Festival!

It was September 9th, 10th, and 11th, 2016, at the Riverplex on the banks of the Monongahela River.

As usual, the festival hosts some great bands, Celtic vendors, beer and food, and, of course, storytellers. We got in a traffic jam (actually, it was closer to grid lock) in Pittsburgh late Friday afternoon. Two bridges crossing the Monongahela River were closed. We arrived at the festival late, but in time to enjoy a few of our favorite bands.

We did two sets on Saturday – Irish yarns and legends and, with the Pittsburgh Hurling Club, a tale of an ancient hurling match.

We did two more sets on Sunday – more Irish yarns and legends, followed by a talk on the Easter Rising.

Had a great time in Pittsburgh – once again!
